Meet the Orchestra

Genesee Symphony Board of Directors sponsors Genesee area students in a “Meet the Orchestra” setting. Students arrive an hour before the October concert and meet personally with various orchestra members as each discusses their instrument and the techniques they use in playing. Students in previous “Meet the Orchestra” sessions have exclaimed, “What an awesome experience!”

Student Concerto Competition

Area students who have worked very hard at achieving their best skill level on their instrument or voice are rewarded by soloing with the orchestra. The competition is open to area students in grades 8-11. This season our competition winner will be featured during the October concert. The GSO also awards scholarships to deserving participants.

String Orchestra Workshop

The GSO reaches out to the intermediate skilled string students of our region through the String Workshop. All student string players, with orchestra members as mentors, rehearse with Maestro Ponti on a rehearsal day prior to the concert. This season the workshop will take place on April 2nd, and the participants will perform with the orchestra during the May 1st concert. The String Workshop is sponsored by the Bank of Castile.
